Herbal pharmacology
Rooted in 2000 years of clinical experience, guided by modern science. I am a clinical herbalist available for face-to-face consultations, bespoke formula creation, prescription and dispensary. I use a UK-based wholesaler of Chinese medicinal herbs grown according to the 道地药材 principle of growing, harvesting, and preparing herbs in conditions that optimise their curative effect.
I am host of A Manual of Chinese Herbalism, a free searchable web app for information on Chinese Herbalism. I am editor of Chinese Herbal Formulas, a textbook for use in TCM Higher Education Institutions.
fascia alignment and integration
Taking the oldest idea in medicine, applying the most recent research on the anatomy and physiology of deep fascia, and my own clinical experience to remove pain, restore peak functionality, and mould the optimum body for sports performance. I use manual techniques to reduce and remove unwanted scar tissue, regenerate soft tissues, align anatomical structures, and let the body recalibrate the tensile forces held within it by using my fingertips in a non-invasive way to create myofascial release and rebuild functional architecture in connective tissue.
Acupuncture
Informed by a number of traditional approaches to acupuncture, from the rigid 20thC standard of "TCM", to unique techniques learned from individual doctors from different schools of thought in China, I apply the most recent research on the anatomy and physiology of deep fascia, and my own clinical experience to remove pain, restore peak functionality, and mould the optimum body for sports performance. I use needles to alter tissues along 'fault lines' in connective tissue and alter the behaviour of myofibroblasts based on Lifestyle-Mood Spirals.
Tai Chi
Based on a biomechanical approach to Tai Chi derived from modern anatomy and classical acupuncture theory in light of Lifestyle-Mood spirals. I teach Yang family Tai Chi (Yang Cheng Fu style) in plain English or Mandarin to groups and individuals exactly as it was taught to me by Yang Cheng Fu's second son's principle disciple, Yan Han Xiu. I teach how to use Tai Chi to isolate chains of deep fascia, make them stronger, more integrated, and more elastic, to align weight-bearing structures, release excess tension in joints, and hard-wire optimum functional posture into your body's dynamic architecture through slow, aligned, and purposeful movement.
